Next Time I Fall by Barbara Freethy

Reblogged from My Bag Of Books:

Another Whisper Lake top read. At this time my new favorite of this series. Chloe and Decker are an interesting and fun couple. With opposite ideas of family and how to address their issues. They make this story a great read. A definite addition to your TBR List.

Tempting the Billionaire by Blair Babylon

Reblogged from My Bag Of Books:

Second Micah Shine book. Loaded with so many different groups of despicable bad guys, it is often difficult to keep them all straight. There is an insight into the world of Arthur Finch-Hatten (from previous books) who called Micah “my best boy”, which I found a little disturbing. Logan, who may or not be a true friend. An exciting read and now we wait for Blaze to find out the true conspiracy. This can be read as a standalone, however, the previous books are helpful, I went back and did a refresher at several points. Excellent read!

BLURB

Surely nobody has ever met their great love while using duct tape to pull cactus needles out of their girl parts on a mountain trail.

Except I just did.

Let me tell you about Axel Pickle.

He’s a bronzed god.
Totally outdoorsy.
Worth half a billion after selling his nature app.
And he hikes naked.

He showed up in nothing but his hiking boots when I ran shrieking onto his private property after peeing on a prickly pear and being unable to put my pants back on.

We’ve been staring at each other’s private parts from the moment we first laid eyes on each other.

But I can’t date him.
I shouldn’t even talk to him.

And why he’s showing up at the hotel deli where I work, volunteering to slice the salami is a mystery to me.

I’m running from a terrible situation, and I need to keep my head down and avoid the world.

But something about the way Axel looks at me gets under my skin.

And this time, no duct tape in the world can yank the hooks he’s set in my wary, introverted soul.
__

Tasty Pickle is a full-length standalone rom com about the most charming, witty, completely useless hunk of man-meat ever to nature walk au naturel, a skeptical, purposefully underachieving deli worker, and the ghost pepper pickle relish that brings them together with a kiss so fiery that it ends up requiring medicated lip gloss.

It is part of the bestselling Pickleverse, but you do not need to read any other books before this one. You can start your outrageous adventure into the world of the Pickles right here.

EXCERPT

First, I was forced on a hike by my employer.

Then, I got tired and slowed down for like fifteen seconds and somehow lost the group.

Then, I got pelted with nuts by maniac squirrels with a grudge.

I ran in the direction where I thought the group was headed and lost the trail completely.

Of course, I had no cell signal.
Of course.
Just like a horror movie.

I started stress-drinking Gatorade.

Then, I had to pee.
So, I popped a squat.

Apparently on a cactus hidden in the brush.

Tiny spines attached to my girl parts.

And now, I’m on my back, my cactus-impaled vajajay flashing in the sun, my yellow daisy underwear caught on my ankle.

I would like very much to be eaten by a mountain lion.

I can think of nothing else to do, so I close my eyes, lay my head in the dirt, and wish for death.

Then something nudges my shoe.
Uggh.
I ignore it.
Nudge.
No. I’m dead. Death has become me.
Nudge.

“Hey.”

Someone is here. Great.

I open one eye in a squint. A man stands over me like a bronzed god, wearing a backpack, a neckerchief, and hiking boots. And nothing else.

What Never Happened by Rachel Howzell Hall

An emotional roller coaster of bad guys, and more, truly bad guys. Surrounded by her horrible past, Coco struggles mired in lies, deception and murder. Honestly, I do not believe she has one true friend through out this whole story. A strange and different whodunnit. Differently good.

Lucky Girl by Irene Muchemi-Ndiritu

Long, drawn out and sad. I tried to love this story, the long high expectations of Soila’s demanding family and her slog through her unhappy life, left me lost in this relentlessly difficult to enjoy book. The ending was the best of this story.

Johanna Porter Is Not Sorry by Sara Read

Johanna Porter is a “hot mess”, might be a better title, and she just could not catch a break. But she stood up for her self, made horrible decisions and survived. Loved this harried, furious and heartbroken woman. And loved this book. Definite addition to your TBR list.

The Time of Your Life by Sandra Kitt

Loved this book! Beck and Eden, together in mutual loss and love. A small amount of angst and drama, but maturely done. Find their way to companionship, love and respect. A well done romance and HEA. Do not miss this one.

About the Book:

A husband’s disappearance links two couples in this twisty thriller from New York Times bestselling author Mary Kubica

Jake Hayes is missing. This much is certain. At first, his wife, Nina, thinks he is blowing off steam at a friend’s house after their heated fight the night before. But then a day goes by. Two days. Five. And Jake is still nowhere to be found.

Lily Scott, Nina’s friend and coworker, thinks she may have been the last to see Jake before he went missing. After Lily confesses everything to her husband, Christian, the two decide that nobody can find out what happened leading up to Jake’s disappearance, especially not Nina. But Nina is out there looking for her husband, and she won’t stop until the truth is discovered.

Tasty Pickle by J.J. Knjght

The newest in the Pickle Universe. I confess, this was not at the top of my Pickle reads. I found myself exasperated and a little flabbergasted with some of the situations. But, as always JJ, pulled this one out of the woods (not literally, because much happened in those woods), and once again made me a believer.
A great book clip: “If music were a ribbon, it would weave between us, surrounding us, and drawing us together.”
Add this to your collection, or start here, go back and grab the rest of the Pickle adventures. Excellent!

Dark Corners by Megan Goldin

I love the Rachel Krall series and this newest addition is no exception. There is a serial killer on the loose, along with more questions than answers and Rachel is pulled into the middle of the hunt. So many questions, missing victims and hopefully a love interest, moves this story along at a fast, twisted pace. Grab this read, or add to your TBR list. Such a good read.

The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer

First let me say, I searched for the Clock Island Adventure books, to purchase for my Grands, just in case they did exist. Loved this story! Deeply moving in places, yet light and fun throughout. “When you gotta scream, you gotta scream.”. I sincerely hope all those who truly need a wish, get that wish. Excellently done.

Perilous Times by Thomas D. Lee

This is an interesting and different take on the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur’s court. In this story, the earth is possibly past saving and evil rules. I admit there were a few times I was lost, trying to make sense of the names and places. I did enjoy the book, as it is much different from my normal reads, mostly dark, with a sliver of light.

I Love it When You Lie by Kristen Byrd

Many different angles here, that end up in basically the same place. The set up of this book is one of my least favorites, back and forth between four different sisters, in time and circumstance, and each with their own drama, to become a formidable wall, in the end, for one of their own. The story is good, it did take me awhile to get the logic and feel. A different, but good read.

RELEASE DAY,

Cold Deceit by Toni Anderson

Reblogged from My Bag Of Books:

An exciting, fast paced read, with no down side. I loved the interaction between Zoe and Seth, both are driven, smart and interesting. The bad guys abound and are not just the regular suspects, but pop up unexpectedly, just when all appears to be settling down. There is romance, steam and the HEA, along with a possible lead in for the next book. Do not miss this one! Add it now to your TBR list.
