My Bag Of Books

Here is a love of a good read. Life is too short to waste time and money on bad books.

Lethal Game by Barbara Freethy

Another installment of our favorite FBI clan. This story seemed to run on a similar track as a previous book, but it is an enjoyable read, lots of action, mystery and romance keep the story interesting and exciting. Grab this one, a definite addition to your TBR list.

Cold Spite by Toni Anderson

Twins and both are diabolical, one a Navy Seal gone bad. This story has it all, romance, mystery, and the truly evil bad guys, can’t ask for better read. I had to pull myself away from this book so could accomplish my needed every day tasks. Be ready to fall into this story, you won’t want to put it down.

Good Dirt by Charlene Wilkerson

Enjoyed this book, and at the beginning, I could not put it down. Once I moved into Part 2, it lost something, I found myself having to go back to the beginning of chapters to check dates. The story of Ebby,’s family’s past was heart rending and yet uplifting in their struggles to survive. Ebby left me unsatisfied, she needed more, she is “main character light”. The past storyline made this book and made the five star rating possible.

Never Date The Minister by Julia Kent

Reblogged from My Bag Of Books:

Julia Kent has again, worked her awesome magic and given her readers a fun, warm, romantic read, that will make you want more. The saddest part of this book, was the story ended and I wished it to continue. There is much to love and enjoy here.  A definite favorite and addition to any TBR list.

Let’s Call A Truce by Amy Buchanan

Generally a good read. I found myself impatient with the two main characters and their constant bickering and this story literally happened over years. There is much “ado about nothing” for the first half of the book, I admit I literally considered skipping forward just to get past the angst. I did enjoy the last half, again, the female MC was a bit of a bummer, but all worked into a lovely HEA.

The Co-op by Tarah DeWitt

Loved this book. So much of life and living is influenced by our own and other family and friends, so much that at times is overwhelming and difficult to trudge through and around. Both Deacon and LaRynn have emotional issues to deal with and to hopefully put to rest. It took me a few chapters to get into this story as I am not much on shifting timelines, but finally found the rhythm and fell into this story. It is emotional and truly heart warming. Do not miss this one.

Ultimate Justice by Tee O’Fallon

Another top read. Loved Evan and Marlie’s story. Not only were the bad guys smart and sneaky but the good guys were driven, smart and true. Do not miss this newest book in the K-9 Special Ops series, I have enjoyed them all and so far each new book becomes my favorite. Oh, and then there is the “butterfly whisperer”. ““C’mon, buddy.” He tugged his dog away just as a large black-and-orange monarch butterfly descended out of nowhere, flapping its wings, frantically searching for a landing zone. It settled on Blue’s head, in the furry comfort between his ears.”. Just warm fuzzies for me.

City of Secrets by P.J. Tracy

My mind literally spun while reading this book. I love this series and this newest book is no exception. So much happening here and I always hope for an HEA, so am still hopeful for Nolan, Remy, Sam and Melody, but there is so much evil in this world, I continue to hope, it springs eternal, right? The twists and turns, made me delay the finish of this book, unfortunately, I did finish and hope for another. This series would be great for Tv. If you love whodunnit’s, grab this one and hang on for the ride. A fantastic read.

Potions and Proposals by Kate Callaghan

Okay, this story was long and drawn out. The two main characters are childhood nemeses, they carry this into their adulthood and then a little mayhem begins. There is just too much muck and I found myself trying to get through, instead of enjoying it. There are good places, all is not lost, but not the most interesting story.

Much Ado About Margaret by Madeleine Roux

De

I am not a huge historical romance fan, so saying, I found this book a little dry. It does have a good storyline and if you enjoy period pieces, this is a great option. I am giving it 5 stars, others will love this, just not me.

You’d think nearly dying trying to get out of a too-tight gown in a dressing room and being saved by a strong, competent man was a good thing.

Not so much, though, when that strong, competent man is your ex. Your secret ex.

And the reason you need a gown is because you’re part of a charity auction.

The charity auction where he gets into a bidding war to win you.

And now, because you’re one of few female coaches in professional baseball, and he’s the captain of the local professional hockey team, and he paid a ridiculous sum of money for you…

The entire city is shipping you. You can’t leave your apartment without getting a knowing wink from strangers. Your bosses want to use the publicity to have you jointly launch a new community outreach program.

That’s bad enough. It truly is.

But even worse?

Duncan Lavoie, the green-eyed, curly-haired, dimple-cheeked, hot as lava hockey player wants a second chance. And he’ll play dirty to get it.

The Secret Hook-Up is a laugh-out-loud romcom featuring the hot-as-sin hockey captain of the Copper Valley Thrusters, the Copper Valley Fireballs’ lady baseball coach he never got over, and a misbehaving formal gown. It stands alone and comes complete with a happily-ever-after.

AUTHOR BIO

Pippa Grant wanted to write books,so she did. Before she became a USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling romantic comedy author, she was a young military spouse who got into writing as self-therapy. That happened around the time she discovered reading romance novels, and the two eventually merged into a career. Today, she has more than 30 knee-slapping Pippa Grant titles and nine written as Jamie Farrell. When she's not writing romantic comedies, she's fumbling through being a mom, wife, and mountain woman, and sometimes trying to find hobbies. Her crowning achievement? Having impeccable timing for telling stories that will make people snort beverages out of their noses. Consider yourself warned.

The Secret Hookup by Pippa Grant

Officially the top of my Read and Loved list. Always have enjoyed the Thruster and Fire Ball team books by Pippa Grant as my favorite of her series’. This is her best book yet. Duncan and Addie “Daddie” are just awesome together. This book has it all, romance, steam and a small amount of angst, but none of the silly, teen angst that just bugs me so much. Do not miss this one!  It is an excellent story and I am going for the audiobook too, as it will be awesome.

Summer Loving by Barbara Freethy

What a great beach/vacation read. Two competing chefs find their selves wanting more than a win. A good easy read. The second in the newest Ocean Shores series, which is turning into one of my favorites. Makes me want to live there. A must addition to your summer TBR list, don’t miss this one.

Ladykiller by Katherine Wood

What? WHAT? This was very unsatisfying and unsettling. After weeding through the entire story, I ended with a head shake.
